About Shakeaholic

The Idea

We're often asked where we came up with the idea of Shakeaholic so here it is.

From a young age Steve and Ian had always been huge fans of milkshakes, often travelling vast distances in the search for the perfect milkshake (current record 5500 miles set by Steve in September 2000 when he travelled to Los Angeles for a vanilla malt)

In August 2006. Steve and Ian were sat on a beach in Gran Canaria pining for a milkshake (not surprising considering they'd survived the previous week almost exclusively on a diet of Slush and Budweiser). After much searching the best they could find was the usual boring vanilla or banana, yawn....

Not to be disheartened Steve and Ian lay in the 35°C heat and formulated a plan. That day the idea for Shakeaholic was created

On 5th May 2007 the world changed. Clayton Street in Newcastle had a new shop, a milkshake shop selling 175 flavours of milkshake. That shop was SHAKEAHOLIC!

What Makes Shakeaholic Different?

We're aware that the success of Shakeaholic has spawned copycats, so we'd like to share the reasons why Shakeaholic are the first, and best milkshake bars in the North East

Before we opened the doors we tested dozens of brands of ice cream to ensure that our milkshakes tasted heavenly. After tasting countless brands we settled on a very special blend which forms the heart of what makes a Shakeaholic taste so good. Not only that, but we invested heavily in the best blenders on the market, Blendtecs. Not happy with just being the best, we wanted to push the boundaries even further. To do this we commissioned Blendtec to develop a series of unique Shakeaholic spin cycles to give the perfect consistency every time. In addition to this we also went back to the labs in order to develop a unique Shakeaholic branded ice cream, made uniquely for Shakeaholic milkshakes. We spent six months working on this as we only wanted the absolute best, nothing else would be worthy of our name. When you come into a Shakeaholic shop and buy a milkshake you are always guaranteed the absolute best.
